Why I Started Collecting
Share
My journey into collecting vintage design began long before Baan Collection existed.
As a professional photographer, I have spent more than twenty-five years looking at the world through composition, light, colour, and form. Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to objects with a strong visual identity—pieces that are not only functional but also tell a story.
Over time, that fascination naturally evolved into collecting. I found myself searching for furniture that stood out, challenged convention, and represented the optimism and creativity of the 1960s and 1970s. Space Age design immediately resonated with me. Its sculptural forms, innovative materials, and bold vision of the future felt timeless.
Collecting soon became more than a hobby. It became a passion for discovering exceptional objects, researching their history, and preserving them for future generations. Every piece I add to the collection is chosen with the same eye I use behind the camera: balance, character, originality, and emotion.
For me, great design is not simply about owning beautiful furniture. It is about living with objects that have meaning—pieces created by visionary designers who dared to think differently. Their work continues to inspire decades after it was first introduced.
Baan Collection is a reflection of that passion. It is a carefully curated selection of original vintage design, chosen not because it follows trends, but because it represents enduring creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation.
I hope that every piece we offer finds a new home where it will continue to be appreciated for many years to come.
